I have a sore bum today from walking around the very hilly, Urbino (above). There are many wonderful towns and villages in the Marche but this really is spectacular.

After an hour or so of wandering I drove to Fano where I was one of two people sitting on this beach. It was warm enough for a T shirt. Well it was for me, the Italians walking on the beach all still had coats on.

Rush have annouced an extra date to their UK tour. That’s six shows now including the 18,500 capacity MEN Arena. Incredible for a band with an almost non-existent media profile and a record company who have provided practically zero support for many years now. In fact East West, the band’s UK label, are so bad that the band themselves have dubbed them “Least Worst”.

Walking along the street this morning to my car, I passed a very squashed dead rat.

Walking up the street at lunchtime to my car, I passed a dead cat.

I’ve got good Rush tickets for their September UK tour – well, for the dates that have been announced. Rumours are circulating today of an extra night at Wembley Arena and a new date in Newcastle. As an exiled Geordie, I’d love to see the band in Newcastle.

At the moment I’m not sure whether I’ll go to all the shows but I’m getting tickets because I know that as the excitement builds nearer the time, I will want to go. They are also rumoured to be adding some dates in mainland Europe so I might try and do one of those too. Paris is nearest but I can’t think there’ll be much atmosphere there – the French are not exactly known for their love of hard rock. Maybe Germany or Scandinavia (other rumoured stop-offs) would be more fun. Stockholm would be good – I’ve wanted to go there anyway for some time anyway.
